Loading a Genome

Before you can use GeNet you must load a genome from GeneSpring. Only members of the "admin" group can load genomes into GeNet. For more information on the admin group, see "The Projectadmin Group" on page 2-8.

To load a genome:

  1. Start the Apache Web Server if it is not already running.
  2. Start GeneSpring and navigate to the genome to be uploaded.
  3. Select File > Publish Genome to GeNet.
The GeNet Upload window for genomes dialog appears. Since you do not yet have a user ID, enter `administrator' as both the user ID and password.
  1. Click the Upload button.
When the data is finished loading into GeNet you may begin using it. For instructions for logging in to GeNet, see "Starting GeNet and Logging In" on page 2-2.
